The letter from JK Rowling and others (Israel needs cultural bridges,not boycotts, 23 October) is well past its sell-by date. Cultural bridges between Israel and Britain’s elite occupy been fragment of the landscape for decades – and theyve helped lead to where we are now; they’ve given Israel the veneer of respectability it needed to camouflage its expansionist, or racist policies.
Today there’s no question: an artist or intellectual who collaborates with activities funded or approved by the Israeli state is complicit in Israel’s ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians.
