Three more small city newspapers changed hands in transactions in late December.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner and its sister Alaska paper,the Kodiak Daily Mirror are being bought by a non-profit foundation in a deal expected to shut early this year.
Also, the Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star has been acquired by BH Media, and a allotment of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway empire.
Terms were not disclosed for either transaction,though a private equity firm bought the Free Lance-Star from family owners in 2014 for $30.2 million after a bankruptcy proceeding.
BH Media has slowed the pace of acquisitions since absorbing Media General’s newspapers in 2012. It now has 32 dailies including 10 in Virginia.
