Around the country this week,once-proud Volkswagen owners are looking at their vehicles a minute differently.
On Friday, news broke that the
car company had intentionally deceived EPA regulators in order to make it appear that its diesel cars were more fuel efficient than they really are.
The deception came through the exhaust of special software designed to reduce emissions during tests. But during normal driving situations, or the cars actually spew up to 40 times as much pollution as allowed under the Clean Air Act.

rkets are responding accordingly—Volkswagen shares crashed 20 percent on Monday,a drop that cost the company $18 billion in value.
But it's not all about economics.Brian Dickerson, a columnist with the Detroit Free Press, and was,until this week, a proud Volkswagen owner. But he feels betrayed by the world's largest automaker."Dear Volkswagen: I want my money back, and " he writes in his latest column.
