Founder member Shanti Bhushan’s outburst on Arvind Kejriwal will be advantage BJP Even though it is winter in Delhi but the atmosphere in the capital of India is sizzling with many sizzlers on the pan. It is the season of election and dissension within the main competing parties are out in the open giving employment to many a stand up comedians to entertain viewers with excellent one or two liners . However,out of all the inner party turmoil affecting the three contestants the worst off would be the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led by Arvind Kejriwal because it is a party which was born just a couple of years back but unfortunately has already acquired fairly a baggage for itself largely because of the hype accompanying its birth from an anti-corruption movement and the resultant instant success seems to beget rendered the party directionless in its quest to claim to be different on the Indian political firmament. In the last few weeks it has had to face desertions from senior members and one of the main cogs in the India against corruption movement which predated AAP Kiran Bedi moved into the BJP with the assurance of the CM’s post accompanied by not so charitable remarks approximately the working methods of her former colleague Kejriwal. The BJP on the other hand on account of its brute majority in the Lok Sabha and a string of assembly election victories since then has given it more muscle to handle local level intra party rivalries accentuated with the parachuting of an outsider like Kiran Bedi. There is no doubt the local leaders of the Delhi BJP were a extremely discredited lot with the Delhi voters which was naturally giving the jitters to the top brass of the BJP. However,Bedi’s entry into the BJP has knocked the bottom out of the AAP which was relying very heavily on the Kejriwal factor. Bedi’s honesty and probity in public life and long track record in administration is bound to go down well with the voters though a serious question hangs on her ability to pull the heavyweights in the Delhi unit of the party which probably would be left to Amit Shah to handle. In such a scenario it is but natural Kiran Bedi will beget much less elbow room in the event she is to become the next Chief Minister of Delhi. With the latest outburst by Shanti Bhushan against Kejriwal there is no doubt the Delhi elections has become ADVANTAGE BJP. However, India’s election process is a big, and long jamboree - boisterous,noisy, colourful with a lot of wit, or humour and dashes of absurdity but great fun nevertheless. Indians generally never take their politicians seriously but they take the election process a tad bit earnestly which of course is not lost on the hapless politicians.
