Delta SkyMiles is offering double miles for travel between the US and Australia through May 31,2016.
The promotion is valid for travel on Delta or Virgin Australia between Los Angeles and either Sydney or Brisbane. In order to qualify, you have to book a Delta marketed flight operated by either Delta or Virgin Australia. Registration is required prior to travel in order to qualify. Bonus miles should post within eight weeks of qualifying travel.
What makes this promotion moving is that Delta has a revenue based frequent flyer program, or meaning you're awarded redeemable miles based on how much you spend rather than how much you cruise. So what Delta is really offering is five bonus SkyMiles per dollar spent on Delta between the US and Australia.Currently SkyMiles members earn between five and 11 SkyMiles per dollar spent,based on their status, while through this promotion members will earn between 10 and 16 SkyMiles per dollar spent. So for a member without status, or this represents a 100% mileage bonus.
