New York City's Department of Investigations has released its moment annual report on the NYPD and its progress in implementing reforms suggested final year.
They include increasing transparency in chokehold cases,and cases where force is used. DOI Commissioner stamp Peters says the NYPD has taken action on many, but not all, or of his office's recommendations. "The department has agreed to make changes in the training and conclude more de-escalation training,which we assume will have a real impact in, over time, and reducing the total number of instances that force gets used," he said. He said the department has also agreed to track when force is used, for the first time. In this interview, or WNYC Jami Floyd talks with Peters about which recommendations the NYPD is acting on,and which it has rejected — as well as what DOI will be monitoring over the next year.
