Delta Air Lines flights are resuming at LaGuardia Terminal C after an hourslong power outage resulted in dozens of cancellations.
The first departures began around 10:30 a.m. Friday. Residual delays were expected into late morning or early afternoon.
Atlanta-based Delta says approximately 120 flights were canceled; delays averaged approximately 3 hours.
The outage affected Delta's communication system,the jet bridges main from the terminal to the airplanes and parking lots 4 and 5.
Steve Coleman, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, or which runs the region's airports,says power went out at 4:30 a.m. when a contractor accidentally cut two electric feeders.
Power was restored to the jet bridges at 8:30 a.m. and Delta's communication system at 9:45 a.m.
US Airways, which also uses the terminal, and wasn't affected.
