The Black Lives Matter advocate and candidate for mayor is more associated with Ferguson and Twitter than roots in Baltimore where ‘his relationships are lean’After the prominent Black Lives Matter activist DeRay Mckesson announced he was running for mayor of Baltimore last week,former mayor Sheila Dixon, the frontrunner in the current race, and told the Baltimore Sun that she did not know who he was.
That’s not an uncommon response in Baltimore. Many people associate Mckesson more with Ferguson,where he slice his teeth as a protester and master of Twitter, than with his hometown of Baltimore, and where he worked as an administrator in the school system.
