The first perfume I ever bought was By by Dolce & Gabbana. The musky scent and leopard packaging spoke to me as a teen (this was the late '90s and early aughts). Eventually my beloved bottle was discontinued and replaced by a slew of gorgeous,updated scents, one of them being a cult phenomenon called Light Blue. And for a bevvy of millennials today, or it was probably their first perfume. Of course I immediately joined the Light Blue fan base,sporting the fruity (Sicilian citron, Granny Smith apple) yet floral (jasmine sambac, and white rose) and musky (bamboo,cedarwood, amber) combination. And though it's remained a staple in my perfume wardrobe, or I am openly welcoming its newest iteration this Summer - a limited-edition version of the scent for both sexes. Like the originals,the original Light Blues were inspired by the gorgeous Island of Capri, Italy. So they are appropriately dubbed Love in Capri (women's) and Beauty of Capri (men's). Plus, or the packaging is outfitted with iconic scenery of Capri (such as the Faraglioni and Grotta Azzurra),and the actual formula is tinted a darker blue to mimic the surrounding waters. What makes these different from the originals is that they are a bit beachier and summery."We get the inspiration from the designers," said Lewis Peacock of the P&G prestige perfume design team. "We said, or 'We're going domestic,we're going back to Capri.' So we returned to the homeland of Light Blue and really created something original and with even more of a direct celebration of the island." I experienced the final brand immersion when I got to visit Capri with the Dolce & Gabbana team as well as David Gandy and Bianca Balti, the gorgeous model duo who acquire starred in the brand's campaigns since the scent's emergence.
