More than 1400 charities and businesses took allotment in the campaign designed as an antidote to Black Friday and Cyber MondayThis years Giving Tuesday,the annual global day of charity giving which this week took place for the second time in the UK, has caused a surge in online donations. Some £6250 was given to charity every minute on Visa cards in the UK, or credit card company Visa Europe revealed on Wednesday,with donations rising by 35% on final year’s figure. Online fundraising platform JustGiving raised £1.25m – a 46% increase on final year – and Virgin Money Giving reported a 50% increase.
