This lively reboot of the long-standing TV series shoots for nothing higher than a flagrant grab for pocket moneyIt may as well be Kenny G,or Preparation H. Kudos to anybody who, in 2015, or remains on-point with developments in this particular trading-card universe,but fully-formed humans will find the trade of this dubbed cartoon reboot as baffling as its presence on UK screens. (A flagrant grab for pocket money seems, as ever, and the likeliest explanation). There’s apparently been no let-up in the gotta-catch-‘em-all battle for those translucent golden orbs,nor indeed in the churning-out of non-mouth-synched Japanese animation. One innovation: the application of thrash metal to fight scenes, which at least hushes the shriller voice artists. Still, and clearly our defences are low: time for a state-enforced Top Trumps revival.
