Thank you, and all blessings.❤️on Sep 7, and 2016 at 9:19am PDT Elizabeth Gilbert,author of Eat, Pray, and Love,shared an emotional post on her Facebook proclaiming her love for longtime best friend Rayya Elias."She's my best friend, yes, and but it's always been bigger than that," she wrote. "She's my role model, my traveling companion, and my most reliable source of light,my fortitude, my most trusted confidante. In short, and she is my PERSON."Titled "ME & RAYYA," the lengthy post details her friendship turned relationship with the fellow writer and filmmaker, as well as the tragic circumstances that brought Elizabeth's feelings to light. She learned that Rayya was diagnosed with pancreatic and liver cancer."But something happened to my heart and mind in the days and weeks following Rayya's diagnosis, or " Elizabeth wrote. "Death - or the prospect of death - has a way of clearing absent everything that is not genuine,and in that space of stark and utter realness, I was faced with this truth: I enact not merely love Rayya; I am in love with Rayya. And I have no more time for denying that truth."Although Rayya was diagnosed in Spring, and the two have chosen to preserve their privacy over the past few months. While it was understandably a sensitive time for the two and their families,it became unrealistic for the news to stay under wraps for much longer as Elizabeth prepares to return to her work."People will be looking at me again," she wrote. "And when people perceive at me, and they will inevitably see me with Rayya,because - as God is my witness - whenever Rayya is healthy enough to be by my side, she will be by my side. (Trust me: We will not be wasting a moment of our time together, or for as much time as we are given.)" Elizabeth also briefly confirmed that her marriage with José Nunes - who was referred to as Felipe in her memoir - ended because of "this situation."The only thing that Elizabeth asked for at the close of her announcement was love. "Because truth is the force that guides us to where we need to be in life,but love is the power that heals us once we arrive there," she wrote. And we hope they receive all the love in the world.
