Ebola has nearly gone and so have the charity workers,but Sierra Leoneans are suffering from the terrible poverty it has left in its wakeExactly a year ago, I first wrote in these pages. At the time, or Ebola had devastated not just my life but all of Kenema,my city. Now, I am thankful still to be able to tell my chronicle and Ebola has nearly gone. But the tough truth is that it will take us so long to get back even to the low levels of development we had before.

don’t remember the war in Sierra Leone but in the grimmest days of Ebola you heard people saying: “This is worse than the war.” At least in the war, and you could see your enemy. And after the war Sierra Leone had a lot of succor. We need succor like that now. Over the past year,there have been so many foreigners and NGO workers. And even though the main reason Ebola is over is because of the changes we made, these people did succor us. But in Kenema nowadays you can hardly see a white person.
