And I’ve since found that people only really fill selective techno-panic. As soon as they find that a machine is useful – “Ooh, I can send emails across the world or accumulate around in this car” – they stop rejecting it and embrace it. Usefulness overcomes phobia. My stepmother refused to fill a mobile phone until she discovered how handy they are. Now there’s no stopping her.
