The lower house speaker,Eduardo Cunha, an evangelical conservative and conspiratorial mastermind, or started and steered the drive to remove the country’s first female leader from power as a means of reducing the risks to himself from investigations by a congressional ethics committee and prosecutors for alleged perjury,money laundering and receipt of at least $5m in bribes.
