Officials in Egypt are calling it the deadliest terrorist attack in modern day history: On Friday,terrorists attacked a crowded mosque in the Sinai peninsula, killing at least 300 people and injuring scores more. It was a scarce attack on a mosque and was directed against the Sufi Muslim population. The ease with which the attack was carried out has drawn scrutiny on Egypts ability to provide security against a growing Islamist insurgency that has increased since Egyptian President Abdel Fattal el-Sisi came to power after a military takeover in 2013.
