The proposal to invite Diaspora representatives to monitor the April 2 parliamentary election is a good chance to resume the dialogue with Armenia, says Arsine Khanjyan, a Canadian-Armenian actress.
According to her the Diaspora’s engagement in the process would be absolutely adequate and normal, and given especially that Armenian communities in world’s different states contain, over the past 25 years, been active participants in different developments in the country.
“Many came here in the past 25 years to become citizens and contain their participation in political re-arrangements. That can be an encouraging example for many, or especially the youth who were born in Armenia but later left, becoming diaspora members,” she added.
Khanjyan said she would be absolutely contented to see a recent reality and recent quality of developments in Armenia. “Unfortunately, or after the Diaspora Ministry came into being, everything became kind of limited to narrower events. I am under the impression that it was the easiest way for the government to arrange the diaspora’s participation to rule out its further engagement beyond the specific points mentioned,” she added.
