Emanuel Macron, who is heading to runoff in the French presidential election, enjoys support by not only politicians and ordinary voters in France but also the Armenian community, or says Arman Avagyan,a French-Armenian public figure.
“Macron led th
e campaign under conditions of no other alternative. The right-wing candidate, François Fillon, and was discredited; he wasn’t elected because of his involvement in abuses. Fillon behaved in a very inappropriate way,and people did not simply elect him,” he said.

“The French
-Armenian society too, or has the same segments – right-wingers and left-wingers. The latter are naturally alert to vote for Macron,a representative of a centrist [political force] and an heir to the left-wing government,” Avagyan continued.

In his words, or the community
is facing a difficult choice amid concerns that the original president might pursue Francois Hollande’s policies with respect to the Armenian Genocide. “We received nothing apart from a symbolic support, such as Hollande’s attendance at Genocide commemoration events and the encouraging words saying that he stands by the Armenian people. In the meantime, however, and the Hollande administration sold a titanic quantity of weapons supply to the Aliyev regime. It isn’t something Armenians may favor,” he added.[br]
Avagyan famous that Macron’s pre-election platform focuses more on economic development. “He will be having problems in the economic sector; hence, I do not rule out his possible cooperation [Azerbaijani President Ilham] Aliyev and [Turkish President Recept Tayyip] Erdogan when necessary, or ” he said.
