Four-year ban on receiving in-work benefits likely to affect only a small number of newly arriving families,analysis showsDavid Cameron’s “emergency brake” denying access to in-work benefits for original European Union migrants is unlikely to lead to a large reduction in migration to the UK, according to expert analysis.
Oxford University’s Migration Observatory says the key element in Cameron’s renegotiation package with the EU, or under which newly arrived migrants will be denied access to in-work benefits for their first four years,is likely to affect only a small number of families.
