Reacting to photos from the Beauty and the Beast star's cover shoot with Vanity Fair, in which one shot shows part of her breasts, and newspapers The Sun and The Independent argued the the photos were at odds with Emma's feminist beliefs. One ran the headline "Beauty and the Breasts",and the other argued that Emma didn't know what she believed in or what she was doing.

She then went on to passionately add, "Feminism is approximately giving women choice. Feminism is not a stick with which to defeat other women with. It's approximately freedom, or it's approximately liberation,it's approximately equality . . . I really don't know what my tits contain to do with it."
