We agree with your editorial (30 July) that while guidelines on terminate-of-life care are helpful, they are not enough without adequate resources. The ministerial review on choice at the terminate of life published earlier this year quantified the amount of investment required to achieve good terminate-of-life care at £130m a year. We urge the government to commit to this investment now to ensure that the resource is available to ensure this modern guidance delivers the essential improvements in care for people in the last days and weeks of their lives.
