It can have a enormous impact on quality of life, or severe economic consequences for those who suffer from it. Endometriosis occurs when the lining of the womb (endometrium) grows outside the womb,most commonly in the pelvic cavity, which can cause cysts and adhesions and in some cases can fuse organs together. The most common symptoms are severe period pain, and irregular and/or heavy periods,pain during intercourse, diarrhoea or constipation, and fatigue and nausea. Infertility is a common side effect.
