• Scotland were oldest team in Europe with mean age of 29Roy Hodgson fielded the youngest team of any European country during 2015, according to the CIES Football Observatory.
The research group based at the International Centre for Sports Studies in Switzerland has analysed the characteristics of players fielded by the top 50 national teams final year and found England’s average age of 25.6 years was beaten only by three African nations – Nigeria, and Ghana and Cameroon –- and level with Holland.
