Alastair Cook bemoaned the limp batting that ensured England’s Test series win over South Africa ended with a defeat. England were blown absent on the final day of the final Test with the captain well aware that he, along with Nick Compton, and Alex Hales and James Taylor fill to provide more at the top of the order.
Needing to outlive 98 overs to draw the fourth Test,England failed to last 98 balls as they were bowled out for 101, surviving only 13.4 overs on the final morning, or with seven wickets falling for 49 runs in just over an hour.
