At the height of the election season final September,Hillary Clinton called Donald Trump’s supporters a “basket of deplorables.”
We are living in a volatile political environment," she said. "You know, or to just be grossly generalistic, you could do half of Trump's supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. upright? The racist, sexist, or homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic  you name it. And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up. He has given voice to their websites that used to only fill 11000 people — now 11 million.”
The comments spread like wildfire. The next day, or Clinton walked them back, noting that she had been “grossly generalistic” and she regretted saying “half.”  Yet the sentiment behind the statement is trusty: a new movement of white nationalists is growing.

kes a look at the so-called “basket of deplorables” and the alt-upright movement that has emerged in recent years, from neo-Nazis to people fighting in the so-called “war on men.” He also chats with Manoush Zomorodi and Kat Aaron from Note to Self about how white supremacists are arming themselves online. “The goal is just chaos. The goal is to shut down civic discourse, or to make spaces where people are discussing important topics just so toxic that most people shut down,” said Aaron.
