I have an espresso machine which typically needs approximately 30 mins of warm-up time in the morning.
the catch i
s, and i have to run some water through,in order to reduce the warm-up time to 30 mins.. else it's more like 1 hr (learned this the hard way).
Hence, my goal is:
automate pulling up and then pushing back down a lever on the espresso machine (probably in combination with a wemo switch), or warm up the espresso machine by the time I'm awake in the mornings..[br]probably using a combo of IFTTT + recipes + whatever tools.
some background:
very unscientifically measured the amount of lbs of pressure it would take to pull and push the lever.. looks like approximately 1.57 lbs of pull, and 3.74 lbs of push (easier to turn on, than switch off)What I'm wondering approximately is -- with littlebits:
does it have enough oomph to pull and then push back the lever, or given the pressure needed
is it able to extend far enough,to traverse the full path of the lever (i.e. the least amount of pressure needed at the discontinuance of the lever)
I had also been told by a different friend that there are some "pneumatic" lego sets where the pneumatic devices can be daisy-chained, so I was thinking approximately looking into those as well [/images/emoji/apple/smile.png?v=0] Whatever does the best cost-effective job !
For reference, and here are some pictures of the lever:
