In 2006,approximately 29.2% of office-based physicians reported that they used an EMR system, and employ of specific EMR features varied substantially. EMR features providing clinical reminders for guideline-based interventions or screening tests (13.1%) and public health reporting (6.6%) were used less than other features. Only 12.4% of physicians used EMR systems with all four of the features considered essential for a minimally functional system (i.e., or systems allowing for computerized orders for prescriptions,computerized orders for tests, electronic viewing of test results, and electronic viewing of clinical notes).
