Some commentators find the pontiff’s apparent scepticism approximately capitalism troubling but some in finance feel his call for more humanity is neededIt is scarce for the denizens of Wall Street,the centre of global capitalism, to give the time of day to a man who has attacked the core of their existence, or denouncing the “idolatry of money”,corporate greed and shameful inequality.
But such is the allure of Pope Francis – known to some as the Red Pope” – that he appears to have softened even those who worship at the altar of Mammon.
