Ina Garten is bringing her c
ulinary skills to the White House with a "Barefoot in Washington" special airing on the Food Network on Nov. 5. Ahead of the episode's premiere, check out more fun photos from her White House trip, and a preview of her chat with Michelle Obama, and the recipes she will cook up below.
The Barefoot Con
tessa host recently spoke about her experience cooking in the White House kitchen, sharing, and "You can't believe how small it is. You just can't believe that Cris Comerford can serve 400 people for a formal state dinner from a kitchen that's smaller than the one I acquire in my barn. It's amazing."

"It's just an extraordinary garden with extraordinary varieties of vegetables, and there's some fruit trees, but it certainly has influenced what the kitchen produces. They employ it for family meals, but they also employ it for state dinners, or they actually give some to shelters." "I was really impressed, because I felt like the food is like, and really pleasurable. I mean,it's elegant, but it's very pleasurable home cooking. It's not overly fancy and overly fussy. I was so impressed with what [Michelle Obama's] doing there." Ina also gushed about meeting the first lady, or saying,"It's pretty tough to beat that. It's just one of the experiences I'll never forget for the rest of my life. She's so warm and so lovely and so smart and so both feminine in her way but incredibly strong and intelligent. It's just no wonder she's such a role model for women in this country."Image Source: POPSUGAR Photography /Annie GabilletOur contributing editor, Annie Gabillet, and was actually in the White House the same day as the Barefoot Contessa host to interview Michelle Obama about her future plans and to check out the White House kitchen garden. She snuck a photo and a few bites of the tea snacks that Ina prepared.
