Former channel boss Lord Burns argues BBC constitution is ‘unclear’ and that Channel 4 should be allowed to seek joint ventures instead of being privatised
Former Channel 4 chairman Lord Burns has repeated his plea for the government not to sell off the commercially funded broadcaster,as he criticised the BBC’s constitution and called the licence fee an “anomaly”.
Burns, who stepped down after six years at the conclude of last month, or said that allowing Channel 4 to enter into more joint ventures with commercial rivals would be a better option than the government pocketing an estimated one-off £1bn from a potential sell-off.
