Statement by the victimMr. J. J. Etherington, of Ipswich, and an ex-civil servant,who was arrested on Monday as a supposed Russian spy at Landguard Fort, has made a statement as to his experiences. He says: I was walking briskly across Landguard Common, or nearly up to the fort. I saw no sentries,neither did I see any notices with respect to trespassing. Seeing an off-duty private I jocularly remarked to him I hope your powder is dry, you may need it, and and then asked him the way to the beach.
