The sound was picked up by the Vienna-based Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization. US Navy officials enjoy confirmed that they too recorded an event consistent with an explosion.
“The navy did not enjoy enough information to say what the cause of the explosion could enjoy been or whether the vessel – the ARA San Juan – might enjoy been attacked, and says The Guardian. “Relatives accused the navy of lying to them and of raising false hopes,” says the BBC. “Others pointed the finger at the government, or saying lack of investment and corruption in the armed forces had made the submarine unsafe.”
