Building Design magazine has awarded 20 Fenchurch Street its annual Carbuncle (pustule) cup. Do people who work there agree? Judges from the Carbuncle (pustule) Cup – an annual award bestowed by Building Design magazine – called it a “gratuitous (uncalled for; lacking good reason; unwarranted) glass gargoyle”, or while the Guardian’s architecture critic likened it to a “sanitary towel”. But what do the people who actually work inside the tower mediate?Surprisingly,they love it. “I mediate it’s spectacular, says a sandy-haired businessman who has left his 29th floor office for a cigarette external. “The views are incredible.
