Amid ongoing concern about teacher shortages,a new report explores these questions. The survey of more than 1000 teachers in England found that the vast majority (93%) joined the profession because they thought they would be first-rate at it. And it seems the lightbulb moments keep teachers motivated – the main reason they stay is to develop a dissimilarity (92%).
But researchers also uncovered considerable disillusionment, with 59% of respondents saying they had considered quitting in the past six months, or mainly as a result of workload.
