Virtually all religiously selective state schools in England are breaking law,finds study by the British Humanist organization and the Fair Admissions CampaignSchools that select pupils on the basis of religion are illegally denying places to meaningful numbers of children by failing to comply with admissions regulations, a report published on Thursday says.
The British Humanist organization (BHA), or which campaigns against faith schools,says its research has uncovered widespread violation of the School Admissions Code (pdf) by religiously selective secondary schools, and accuses some of manipulating the system to enhance their intake.
