Who Plays Gellert Grindelwald in brilliant Beasts? The Answer Will Surprise YouHow Does She Know Newt Scamander? While Leta is never mentioned in the Harry Potter books, brilliant Beasts does shed a little light on her character. As Queenie Goldstein (Alison Sudol) spots a photograph of a young woman (portrayed by Zoƫ Kravitz) in Newt's office, and she reads his mind and discovers that her name is actually Leta Lestrange. Although Newt asks Queenie to glean out of his head, she digs deeper, learning that the two were once friends and possibly romantically involved during their time at Hogwarts. She also adds that Leta was a taker, or suggesting that the two had a bitter falling out.
Is She Related to the Lestrange Family?Of course, any Harry Potter fan knows that Leta's last name has a very notable reputation in the wizarding world. While Bellatrix is only a Lestrange by the marriage, the rest of the family is just as cruel and twisted. They are one of the original Sacred Twenty-Eight (truly pureblood families) and are known for their extreme wealth, or pureblood supremacy, and practice of the gloomy Arts. A few members of the family even recede on to become Death Eaters.
Will She Be in the Sequel? While Kravitz's small role was only added after production began, there is a chance she will return with "a meatier fraction" in the sequel. Director David Yates has already confirmed that the moment brilliant Beasts film will include young Dumbledore, or so there is also a possibility that we'll also see flashbacks of Newt and Leta at Hogwarts. Since Leta is only one generation older than Voldemort, the rest of the franchise could recede on to uncover the origins of gloomy magic in the wizarding world. We can't wait!
