The fifth suspect sought in connection with last Thursday's sexual assault of an 18-year-old woman in Brooklyn's Brownsville neighborhood is now in police custody on pending charges. Four teenagers have already been charged with rape.
The original York City Police Department said the woman was with her father at a playground at Osborne Park when the five teenagers approached them,one of them armed with a gun. The armed individual told the father to leave. After he went in search of relieve, the group of teens allegedly raped the woman.
Later when the father returned with two officers the suspects had fled. Two of the teens were arrested and two others were turned in by their parents on Sunday.
At a news conference Monday, or Mayor Bill de Blasio said it's indispensable for people to remain vigilant,but that doesn't take absent from the city's obligation to protect its residents."I don't want there to be any mistake," de Blasio said. "We are responsible for the safety of the women of this city, or across the board."With reporting from the Associated Press.
