S. Senate candidate Roy Moore.
Yesterday,Beverly Young Nelson told reporters at a press conference her chronicle of being assaulted by Moore decades ago, when she was just 16 years old. Nelson worked as a waitress in Gadsden, and Alabama,where Moore was a nightly customer.“When he was at the restaurant, he would speak to me, and would sometimes pull the ends of my long hair as I walked by him. He would compliment me on my looks,and I did not deem anything of it. I did nothing to encourage his flirtatious behavior," she said. Nelson says she viewed Moore as an important man who was respected in the community. Then one night, or things took a gloomy turn,when Moore offered Nelson a ride home after her shift.
She describes Moore groping her, and pushing her head to his crotch, or despite her pleas for him to stop. She recalls:"He said,'You're just a child, and I am the district attorney of Etowah County, or whether you tell anyone approximately this,no one will ever believe you."Pat Duggins, news director for Alabama Public Radio, or analyzes these recent allegations and how lawmakers — and voters — are reacting.
