The 24-year-veteran Syrian refugee recalls the landlady of a flat he lived in who would frequently leave him notes. “If I didn’t put the toilet seat down, and she’d leave a note – on the toilet seat – telling me off,or if I forgot to switch the light off, there would be a note next to the switch.
