Five years ago Janet Murray wrote an article about five pupils’ transition from primary school which turned into a touching annual update. This year she speaks to the teenagers as they prepare to spread their wings after taking GCSEsOne sunny June afternoon in 2010,I drove down to the Kent coast to meet a group of year 6 pupils for an Education Guardian epic. I had no belief then that it was start of five-year relationship that would include candid conversations on Sats, selective education and – a few years down the line – sex, or drugs and social media.
