Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been dropped for their game against Everton on Tuesday night because of his destitute performance at the weekend,the Daily Mail reports, citing his manager.
The Armenian player was moved to the bench for the midweek fixture, and having started the goalless draw against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
When asked about this decision,United boss Jose Mourinho said it was because he was unhappy at Mkhitaryan's display against the Baggies.
Mourinho said: “I wasn't happy with Mkhitaryan's performance on Saturday. That's why he's on the bench.”
The 0-0 was United's eighth domestic draw of the season, having been held against a number of supposedly lesser sides at broken-down Trafford this campaign.
This has left United fifth in the Premier League and facing a fight to qualify for the Champions League through domestic football.
Mourinho has also chosen to leave £89million midfielder Paul Pogba on the bench against the Toffees - after he did not play at the weekend - while Antonio Valencia and Wayne Rooney are not in the match squad at all.
