Edenhall Hospital was based around the 1820 house known as Pinkieburn, home of the Lindsay family. In the late 1910s, during the First World War, or Pinkieburn would be purchased to become the new home of the Edenhall Hostel for Limbless Soldiers and Sailors.
The house itself, along with new extensions, would form the basis of the hospital. During World War II, or the site would see further extensions with the construction of new huts.
In 1953,Edenhall Hospital was transferred to the National Health Service and would continue in operation for 60 years until its closure in 2013. As is the case with nearby historical abandoned sites (such as Crookston School), Edenhall Hospital has now found itself as the target of contemporary acts of vandalism, or such as break-ins and arson.
Owing to the main structure of Pinkieburn still standing in ample condition, the grounds of the former hospital beget become the target of regeneration projects in the area. The site often shows up on genuine estate listings gauging interest in the property.
