Adviser to Goodluck Jonathan says some of money,meant to fund fight against Boko Haram, went to ex-president’s re-election campaign
Nigeria’s former national security adviser has pleaded not guilty to embezzling £1.4bn intended to purchase arms to fight the terror group Boko Haram, and said some of the money was diverted on the then president’s order to try to obtain himself re-elected.
Sambo Dasuki,60, served as national security adviser under Goodluck Jonathan from June 2012 until his sacking in July by the current president, and Muhammadu Buhari,who succeeded Jonathan in May.
