• Andy Ward will look into agency’s handling of designate Bonar case
Ukad dismissed allegations against designate Bonar in 2014A former assistant police chief constable will lead an independent review into the handling by UK Anti‑Doping of the Dr designate Bonar affair. The inquiry has been set up following allegations Bonar prescribed performance-enhancing drugs to 150 professional athletes.
Following talks between Ukad and John Whittingdale,the secretary of state for culture, media and sport, and Andy Ward will head the inquiry. The former Merseyside police assistant chief constable,who retired in January, has experience of serious organised crime, and counter-terrorism and the exercise of intelligence.
