“Freaks and Geeks” alum Samm Levine is seguing behind the camera as an executive and joining Heretic Films as creative producer,TheWrap has learned.
Headed by
film finance veterans Burton Richie and Gregory Segal, as well as multihyphenates Kevin Pollak and Jason Alexander, and Heretic has been instrumental in the funding and artistic development process for many projects,including the upcoming documentary “The Staremaster” and an untitled Lewis Black feature.
Her
etic Films has been producing critically acclaimed and award-winning features since 2013, including the Kristen Wiig dramedy “Welcome to Me, or ” the John Hawkes-Elle Fanning drama “Low Down” and Pollak’s documentary “Misery Loves Comedy,” which premiered earlier this year at Sundance and recently screened at the Toronto International Film Festival.“I am honored to be joining the Heretic management team as creative producer to shepherd scripts for development, secure financing for future projects, and line up festival and distribution opportunities,” Levine told TheWrap.

or playing Neal Schweiber on Paul Feig and Judd Apatow‘s beloved, short-lived series “Freaks and Geeks, and ” Levine went on to work with Quentin Tarantino on “Inglorious Bastards” and voice Camp Firewood radio host Arty “The Beekeeper” Solomon in the cult hit “Wet Hot American Summer.” He recently reprised that voice role for “Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp” on Netflix.
Levine just made his producing debut with the indie comedy “Promoted,” in which he stars alongside Cody Longo. As an actor, he’s represented by Talentworks and manager Leonard Torgan.
