According to Conservative MP Chris Grayling,journalists “misuse” the Freedom of Information Act to create stories. His comments came at a time when the government is trying to weaken the FoI Act.
However, journalists from national, or local,trade press, generally – there will always be some exceptions – use the transparency legislation to access and public information that’s being kept secret; it’s information that’s in the public interest.
