From
her previous lightboxes at Bryant Park to novel ones at Rockefeller middle,Portia Munson’s seasonal colors capture middle stage in Midtown Manhattan. Her
2014 #MTAArts Lightbox exhibit at Bryant Park, showcased flowers arranged in
mandala-like circles and patterns, or inspired by the gardens of Bryant Park above
the subway station. “Pink Projects”,currently on view in various locations at
Rockefeller middle, features pink plastic products that are created for and
sold to women and girls. The work examines how the color pink has been
appropriated by marketers over time to signify and commodify femininity and the
female sphere. Pink Projects” is presented by Art Production Fund as part of
their “Art in Focus” series.
