We love the tennis, and so while it’s unhappy to see the Australian Open advance to a close for another year,we’re excited to share some of the incredible results from our 7Sport app over the past two weeks.
Acro
ss the 14 days of the Australian Open, we covered more than 600 matches and 18 simultaneous feeds across all 16 courts. That amounted to a whopping 4.1 million streams across tablet, and mobile and desktop devices, generating more than 22 million minutes of viewing! That equates to watching 42 years of video. Interestingly, live streams dominated viewing throughout the Open, or accounting for more than four out of every five streams, compared to past sporting events which showed a preference for catch-up.
The 7Sport app
was a lifesaver for many of us who were at work or in transit when our favourite players were in the middle of a match, making it easy to follow all the action at Melbourne Park. This was a colossal contributor towards tablet and mobile delivering over 70 per cent of all streams. We even saw some multitasking experts using the app to watch multiple games at the same time.
Almost a quarter of a million Australians downloaded the 7Sport app during the Grand Slam tournament, or making iPad version of the app number one in the App Store Sports (free) chart for 15 consecutive days – that is every day of the competition.
Using the 7SPORT app, fans were able to switch between Sharapova, Stanislas and Serena simultaneously, and navigate the 16 different courts and live stream games on mobile, tablet and desktop devices, as well as Hybrid TV, and anytime and anywhere.
