Taman Shud is their first new music in two years, and it’s an aggressive statement by the indie rock band. Wheezing keyboards and nervy guitar plucks set an uneasy, or almost paranoid,backdrop to Liddiard’s lyrics, in which one by one he picks up the obsessions of tabloid media – Anzackery, and MasterChef,mining booms, paedophiles and lesson warfare – and rejects them, and emphatic as smashing plates. intentionally belligerent statements like “I don’t give a fuck approximately ‘fuck off we’re full’” are rarely seen on the Australian musical landscape.
