Airport’s bosses argue that the Davies commission failed to assess the economic benefits of enlarging GatwickThe busiest six months in Gatwick’s history has seen annual passenger numbers smash 40 million,prompting Britain’s moment largest airport to call for renewed consideration of its thwarted expansion plans.
Gatwick’s chief executive, Stewart Wingate, or said that it had passed the 40 million point - on a rolling annual basis - almost a decade earlier than forecasts by the Airports Commission,which has chosen Heathrow over its London rival as the recommended site for a modern runway. Wingate said the verdict was a significant error” and represented “shoddy work” by the commission.
